About
Kent P. Von Der Vellen, CFP®, CPFA®, CRPC®
I have been helping people with important financial concerns for over 25 years. Prior to becoming a Financial Advisor in 2008, I was in the mortgage business for 10 years. I started as a Loan Officer and worked my way up to Senior Sales Manager. During my time in the mortgage industry, I became proficient at analyzing income, debt, assets, and credit. This experience helping individuals buy or refinance their homes led me to where I am today. I had a desire to help with the entire financial picture. Right in the middle of the Great Recession, I made the transition to be a financial advisor. Despite the financial difficulties of the time, I worked hard, studied, and persevered and have been able to help my clients with their financial health.
Because I believe financial planning goes beyond managing investments, I earned the Certified Financial Planner certification. My clients can feel confident knowing I invest time to increase my knowledge and expertise to help with their financial goals and concerns. I help my clients with investments, wealth management, financial protection, risk management, estate preservation, retirement planning, and tax reduction techniques.
I have experienced on a personal level how bad things can happen in life. While it is impossible to eliminate risk from our lives there are steps we can take to reduce the effects on our financial well-being. The financial planning process involves discussing what could go wrong as well as what could go right and strategies that may help.
I am able to offer my clients a high level of experience, knowledge, and expertise with financial planning. I am a Certified Financial Planner™, Certified Plan Fiduciary Advisor®, Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor® and an Investment Advisor Representative, holding FINRA Series 7 & Series 66 Securities Registrations, and an Insurance Agent holding Life, Health, Disability, Long-Term Care Insurance, and Variable Annuities license, and maintain a mortgage license (NMLS: 1513145).
My Process
Financial planning is a highly personal process and requires a high level of professionalism when discussing income, savings, and investments. As a fiduciary I understand and respect the trust a client gives me when helping them with their financial life.
The financial process begins with you learning who I am and deciding to develop a professional relationship. As important as it is for you to get to know me, it is as important for me to learn about you. I need to understand your personal and financial life. I will work with you to identify your goals and concerns. I will need you to describe your current financial position and supply me with your financial documents. I will analyze your current situation based on our discussion of your finances combined with the documentation you provide. I make financial planning recommendations based on this analysis. After presenting these recommendations, we will agree on the steps needed to implement to meet your goals and address your concerns. Once implemented we will monitor the plan and schedule times to meet and review. Since life is dynamic, we will make changes when necessary.
